Avalanche Studios' Mad Max video game is all about customizing your car, the Magnum Opus, to be the deadliest fighting machine the Wasteland has ever seen. But dishing out all that death and destruction doesn't mean anything if your car doesn't look cool while you are doing it.

That's what these hood ornaments are for, and fans of George Miller's Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior are in for a treat. If you've seen the 1981 film you'll remember the hockey-mask wearing Lord Humungus that Max must face. You'll be happy to know then that you can mount Lord Humungus' hockey mask on the front of your ride to instill fear throughout the Wasteland.

Also available as nods to characters from The Road Warrior are the feral kid's boomerang and the pads of Lord Humungus' lieutenant Wez. You'll also be able to equip the Bearclaw Mask, the Furry Teddie and the Aviator Helm.

The inclusion of the various head ornaments are interesting, mostly because developer Avalanche Studio has been reluctant to tie their version of Mad Max within the existing film continuity. Avalanche says their version of Max may have not once been a police officer, their version of the Wasteland isn't Australia and that the game isn't in any way tied to the franchise's past story wise. As we can see from the hood ornaments, that doesn't mean the game won't be filled with a few Easter eggs for long time fans of the franchise. Players can also find Dinki-Di dog food cans in the game, which Road Warrior fans will remember.

The 12 hood ornaments are coming exclusively to PlayStation 4 owners for a limited time, with the fine print at the bottom of the trailer stating the content will remain exclusive until Nov. 30 of this year.

Mad Max arrives on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC Sept. 1. You can read more about the size of the game's world here.
