Motorola announced that pre-orders for the Moto X Pure Edition will begin in the United States today,  Sept. 2.

The Moto X Pure Edition is the United States variant of the Moto X Style, which is the name of the smartphone for other locations.

Motorola made the announcement through a tweet, where it also provided a link to the official page of the smartphone on its website.

The Moto X Pure Edition features a 5.7-inch screen with a 2,560 x 1,440 pixel resolution and a 21MP rear-facing camera. The smartphone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 chipset with 3GB of RAM, and supports microSD cards to expand memory by up to 128GB.

News website The Verge noted that a previous tweet that has since been deleted by Motorola said that pre-orders for the Moto X Pure Edition would launch on Sept. 3, but it seems that the company is ready to begin with the pre-orders a day earlier.

The Moto X Pure Edition will support all the major wireless carriers within the United States, with the retail price of the device starting at $399. The price can increase depending on customizations that customers could request through the Moto Maker system of Motorola.

While the Verge reported that there was no indication on when the smartphones would be shipping after the pre-order period, Android news website Droid Life found out through a member of the Moto Makers group that the pre-ordered Moto X Pure Edition devices would begin to ship out after less than two weeks on Sept. 13.

A hands-on demonstration on the Moto X Pure Edition found that the bigger display of the device compared to the Moto X 2014 is a "stunner."

In addition, despite measuring larger by 0.2 inches compared to the iPhone 6 Plus of Apple, the smartphone does not feel particularly unwieldy, probably partly due to the curved back of the device that makes it comfortably fit into the user's hand. Users are also given a wide variety of choices for the smartphone's back cover through Moto Maker.

The Moto X Pure Edition will work across all carriers through a simple swap of SIM cards, with the device shipping with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop pre-installed.
