Apple seems all set for its Sept. 9 event where the company plans to launch its next-generation smartphones: the iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus and probably the iPhone 6c. Rumors have been surfacing that the camera of the upcoming iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus will get a big boost to include slow motion and panorama mode.

Smartphones are often used by owners to take pictures. There are a lot of smartphone customers who take selfie pictures from their smartphone's front camera and share these on social media. Smartphone makers have been focusing on improving the camera capabilities of their smartphone for the past few years, and Apple does not want to lag behind in the race.

The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus come packed with an 8MP rear-facing camera and a 1.2MP front-facing camera. Apple has not changed the front sensors of the camera since the release of the iPhone 5 in September 2012. Reports now claim that the upcoming iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus will be equipped with a 12MP primary camera and a 5MP selfie camera.

A 9to5Mac report suggests that the camera sensor upgrade is just one part of the story. The iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus camera will also get new features and improved software integration. The FaceTime camera, or the front-facing camera, of the iPhone 6s is rumored to support selfie panorama images.

The FaceTime camera for both the upcoming iPhones is also expected to support slow motion video and high-resolution video recording.

The camera will also include a flash that will be software-based, which will light up display in low-light conditions for better quality images.

Apart from the improved camera, the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus are also anticipated to get some more new features. It is highly likely that the upcoming Apple handsets will include a faster A9 chip and either 1.5GB or 2GB of RAM.

Force Touch is also expected to be used in the next-gen Apple phones for enhanced user experience.

The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are currently available in three color options. Some rumors claim that the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus will also come in a new rose gold color option.

Apple has not revealed any information about its handsets, so iDevice lovers will have to wait just a few more days before the company takes the wraps off the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus.
