Production wrapped up for the pilot episode of the comic book-inspired new series to air on AMC called Preacher, and now, fans are finally getting more details about the anticipated show.

Executive producer Seth Rogan revealed on Twitter that the series will premiere "sometime in 2016" on AMC. Rogan previously tweeted that the series was slated for a May 2016 release on the network but quickly deleted in tweet, writing instead that it "may not air in May."

He might have given away too much information, because both tweets mentioning a premiere date were then deleted.

While we may now believe that at least the series will air sometime next year, Rogan also gave Preacher fans a look at the series' first poster. While we aren't introduced to any of the characters, the artwork shows instead a church (and its crucifix) upside-down, with the title of the show located below off in the clouds.

The comic book series Preacher was created by writer Garth Ennis and artist Steve Dillion and was published by DC Comics' imprint Vertigo from 1998 to 2000. The comic follows the story of a preacher named Jesse Custer, who lives in a small Texas town and becomes possessed by a supernatural angel/demon named Genesis. His congregation is killed and church destroyed, but he now has the ability to make anyone obey his commends. Custer then teams up with his ex-girlfriend and an Irish vampire to track down God.

Actor Dominic Cooper is cast to play Custer, with Ruth Negga to play the ex-girlfriend Tulip O'Hare and Joe Gilgun as the vampire Cassidy. Joining the cast are Ian Colletti, Elizabeth Perkins, Jamie Anne Allman and Derek Wilson, as well as Lucy Griffiths as original character Emily Woodrow, who will be Custer's love interest. Preacher is co-produced by Sony Pictures Television and AMC Studios, with Evan Goldberg joining Rogen as producer. The pilot was written by Sam Catlin.
