A report by Android news website Droid Life claimed that the names of the upcoming Nexus devices are the Nexus 5X and the Nexus 6P, a reliable source told the website.

The Nexus 5X name has been rumored for a while, in reference to the model that was made by LG. However, the name of Nexus 6P to refer to the Huawei-manufactured model is new information.

While Droid Life admitted that there is a chance for the names to change upon the announcement of the devices, the website said that it would be surprised if the names would not be what will be announced at an upcoming event.

The previously known codenames for the two devices, specifically bullhead and angler, were also confirmed by Droid Life's source.

Google has sent out invitations for a press event that will be held in San Francisco on Sept. 29, where the company is expected to unveil new hardware including its upcoming Nexus devices.

The invitation does not include any other information, aside from Google preparing to reveal "new treats." However, sources that are familiar with the plans of Google revealed to CNET that the company is unveiling two version of its upcoming Nexus smartphone.

The two versions of the Nexus smartphone have different sizes. LG's Nexus 5X will be featuring a 5.2-inch screen, while Huawei's Nexus 6P will be packing a 5.7-inch screen. The Nexus 6P should not be confused with the Motorola-made Nexus 6, however.

The two new devices will be the first to come running with Android 6.0 Marshmallow, which is the latest version of Google's mobile operating system. A lot of other questions remain regarding the smartphones though, including the price at which they will be sold.

As the first devices to feature Android 6.0 Marshmallow, the new Nexus devices will be previewing the capabilities of the new mobile operating system before other smartphone manufacturers begin to release devices powered Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

Reports also claim that Google will be unveiling an updated version of its Chromecast at the event.

Sept. 29 is only over a week away, which means that it will not be a long time until Google's plans are revealed to the public.
