GoPro is taking steps to offer every possible client an action camera. Today, the manufacturer revealed a new action camera: the GoPro Hero+ Wi-Fi. It is an entry-level camera that fills the gap between the basic model, Hero+ (priced at $129.99) and the extra-featured Hero+ LCD (selling for $299.99).

The name of the new GoPro Hero+ Wi-Fi hints at the capabilities of the camera. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are included, while the LCD is absent. The price tag reads $199.99 and places the model in the middle range, making it a strong candidate for the upcoming gift season.

Even if the exterior of the Hero+ Wi-Fi is identical to the standard model, the specs are inherited from the more advanced Hero+ LCD. What this offers is a maximum recording resolution of 1080p at 60fps, doubling the 30fps from the entry-level Hero+. If you want to take photographs, it will capture stills at 8 MP. There are also three modes to choose from: Single, Time Lapse and Burst. For diving enthusiasts, Hero+ Wi-Fi can go as deep as 131 feet below sea level and it will still record everything.

A note to remember: GoPro Hero+ Wi-Fi doesn't support slow motion, so if you wish to record such slow-motion sequences, you need to consider a camera from the Hero 4 line.

Due to the connectivity options, you can use your phone to change camera settings, frame shots and share videos with followers, friends and family. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth synergize the phone and camera, which compensates for the lack of a color display on the latter.

GoPro Hero+ Wi-Fi is announced for market release on Oct. 4.

In another marketing move that precedes the holiday season, GoPro brings another tempting offer: the tiniest of the Hero 4 models, the Hero 4 Session action camera, gets a trim of $100 - from $399.99 to only $299.99. The camera's size means more portability, which is a great asset when you are outdoors and capturing exciting moments. One drawback of the Session is that it comes without a display, which puts it at a slight disadvantage. However, the hefty price cut could be significant enough to boost its sales.
