Apple has just unveiled its most sophisticated and most powerful flagship devices, the iPhone 6s and the iPhone 6s Plus, and early benchmark tests back the company's claims. Preliminary results show the iPhone 6s is nearly two times faster than the rest of the devices in the industry.

The iPhone 6s, according to the results, is so blazingly fast that it tops the iPhone 6 in speed tests and surpasses the iPad Air 2 along with other Android devices currently offered in the market.

Tech gurus at AnandTech pointed out that GPU improvements made by Apple's engineers would probably be the reason why the iPhone 6s performed almost twice as fast as the rest of the industry, thanks to the A9 chip which is responsible in delivering a more impressive performance.

We earlier reported that the company's A9 processor used in its latest flagship handsets is around 50 percent quicker than its predecessor, the A8 processor.

The A9 processor, equipped with a dual-core 1.8GHz CPU, garnered a single-core score of 2522 for both the iPhone 6s and the iPhone 6s Plus, suggesting that it is far higher than its competitors in the market. For instance, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor, powering the Nexus 6, logged a single-core score of 1081. The Exynos 7420 processor, however, that powers the Galaxy S6 Edge, recorded a single-core score of 1316.

“Overall, NAND performance is impressive, especially in sequential cases,” writes Joshua Ho of AnandTech on a blog post. “Apple has integrated a mobile storage solution that I haven’t seen in any other device yet, and the results suggest that they’re ahead of just about every other OEM in the industry here by a significant amount.”

The battery life though of the iPhone 6s dropped off a bit in comparison with its predecessor, iPhone 6 during the initial tests.

What is worth noting is that the iPhone 6s Plus is reported to have a lesser battery life, around 6 percent lesser, than what iPhone 6 Plus has to offer.

The new flagship devices house 2GB of RAM, while the iPhone 6 came with only 1GB of RAM.

Some users who already got their hands on the iPhone 6s are impressed with the new Touch ID, saying it is incredibly fast.

Meanwhile, a few benchmarks noted that the iPhone 6s almost tops the Surface Pro 3.
