It is odd saying that the best way to tweet is not through Twitter. But the reality is, Twitter's API proxy Tweetbot has advanced so much and has gotten more convenient to use than the official Twitter app.

With Tweetbot, users can sync their timelines across their Mac, iPad and iPhone. They can also mute tweets according to hashtag, user, keywords or tweet source. The API proxy offers third-party support for reading tweets later, syncing timelines and using image and video services.

Tweetbot also boasts all the sought-after attributes of the full-featured Twitter client such as direct messages and lists. Accessory features such as night theme for reading in low light, stats view and many others are also found in the app.

The app's breakthrough feature is the statistics view. Users can watch their tweets get retweeted and favorited in real time, and check their daily activity graph over the last seven days.

With the activity view, users can watch all of the recent activity happening on their account. It is the one-stop bar for all of the user's follows, mentions, retweets and favorites.

There's also a column view which can be seen by positioning the iPhone or iPad to landscape orientation. Users can find a column dedicated to statistics, lists, mentions, search results or activity stream.  iPad users will also find that the app supports iOS 9 multitasking.

For those reading tweets in low light, the app's night mode feature will make browsing more eye-friendly. Users can adjust and toggle manually by swiping two fingers up or down in the app or set the app to automatically switch the reading mode based on ambient lighting.

With all the amazing additions Tweetbot has added to Twitter, the social media company should think about buying Tweetbot and merging the two entities. After all, Twitter has been having a dilemma on how it can innovate itself. At one point, Twitter and Facebook were on the same level, but Facebook has grown so much due to its advancements.

"Tweetbot 4 finally freed me from the official Twitter app," user Owen Williams said on TNW News.
