Adrian and Brooke Franklin first walked down the aisle at a wedding as ring bearer and flower girl. On Sept. 19, they walked down the aisle again—only now as husband and wife.

Prior to the wedding of friends of their parents, the North Carolina couple met in church, back in grade school. However, they said that their love story did not start out quite as romantic.

Brooke liked Adrian from the beginning. Her feelings, however, were unreciprocated.

The change of heart came during high school.

They had a game which entailed drawing on each other's backs and guessing what was written.

"I wrote 'Will you be my girlfriend' and she guessed it, but didn't answer me," shared Adrian. "I said, 'Well, Brooke, are you going to say anything?' and she said, 'Well, you didn't write a question mark.'"

The couple got married at South Gastonia Church of God, the same church where they walked together as five-year-old classmates at a bridal party.

The proposal, of course, was everything one would ever hope for.

Prior to the wedding, Adrian made a sign that read "Will you marry me" without a question mark. "I asked her to marry me and I said, 'Here's your question mark,'" Adrian added.

"We are all in shock as to all the attention that this is getting. There was a picture that my mom posted on Facebook and we're glad that it's good news going out and not bad," Adrian said. "Every time our paths would go separate ways, we'd reconnect."

In a pleasant plot twist, the bride from the wedding where the couple served as ring bearer and flower girl was included in their own guest list. Fascinated by the situation, she brought the photos of her own wedding and eagerly showed them to the couple, who was thrilled by the gesture.

Brooke and Adrian hope to show the photos and share their story with their future children.
