Just a day after Microsoft unveiled the new Surface Pro 4 during its Windows 10 Devices Event Tuesday, HP has introduced a formidable competitor into the tablet world. The new HP Spectre x2 is the company's latest tablet that comes with a built-in 150-degree-rotating kickstand and a detachable keyboard for when users need to do the more heavy-duty work for which a notebook can help.

The HP Spectre x2 has a 12-inch screen with a 1,920 by 1,280 display and weighs 1.85 pounds or 2.69 pounds with the keyboard attached. There's also no fan in the HP Spectre x2, which keeps the whole thing silent while running. Now, you know why they call it Spectre.

One of the reasons why the HP Spectre x2 is distinct from the Surface Pro 4 is that it's got audio from Bang & Olufsen for both dual speakers on the tablet and the keyboard, which is a first for a detachable, according to the company. Getting down to the HP Spectre x2's other specs, it operates with sixth-gen Intel Core M "Skylake" processors, includes SSD storage of up to 512 GB and has an LTE modem for use in Verizon's 4G network. Other features of the HP Spectre x2 include three built-in cameras (a 5 megapixel camera above the screen, an 8 megapixel camera on the back and Intel's 3D RealSense camera on the back), two USB-C ports and a full-sized USB adapter. When it's fully charged, the HP Spectre x2 will give you 10 hours of battery life to use all of those aforementioned features.

The HP Spectre x2 will start at a retail price of $799.99 when it hits Best Buy locations in the U.S. on Nov. 8.
