Rumors of George Miller being attached to a Man of Steel sequel has been swirling around in recent weeks. Though he still made no confirmations, the Mad Max: Fury Road director sat down with IGN and talked about what his take on Superman would be, given the chance.

Superman has no faults, that's why he has a lot of potential to be a very boring character, said Miller. To generate internal conflict, it is crucial that the Man of Steel's demons are found, whether through external force or stirring up something deep within him. A conflicted character is important to the story and this is why Miller thinks Greek gods and Batman are great characters.

He elaborated by saying that the Greek gods were hubristic, vengeful and jealous, but this is what they had going for them. Batman, on the other hand, was human. He's just like everyone so he's more relatable compared to a character who's just perfect.

Aside from Man of Steel 2, Miller was connected to Superman as well through a Justice League movie he was set to direct in 2009 for Warner Bros. Production problems halted the project, but he had already found his Superman in D.J. Cotrana. Though the movie has long since been put to sleep, a documentary about it is currently in the works.

Had that Justice League movie panned out, Miller didn't want a Superman flying around on wires. Instead, he had planned that any flying would be done on C.G. under Ken Ralston, who also worked on Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland, Back to the Future and the original Star Wars trilogy.

Miller is obviously interested in Superman but has said that, though it is tempting, he's going to have to say no to the idea of directing Man of Steel 2.

"Sorry again, not trying to be coy about it," he said, adding that when you have so many things lined up, you have no idea which one is going to break. Not to mention that he wants his next film to be a small one. Definitely nothing like Mad Max, which also means definitely nothing like Man of Steel 2. He did say, however, that while he wants to get away from big action movies for a while, he just can't help himself.
