It's understandable why people are so excited for Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Unleashed: not only is it the first Star Wars movie in 10 years, but the team behind it is one of the best in Hollywood. Sure, the prequels were bad, but from what fans have seen of The Force Awakens, the movie's looking great — of course everyone's excited!

Then again, when so many people are so excited for something, someone is going to try and take advantage of it. That's why, when advance tickets went on sale last night, many predicted that some of the passes would be bought by scalpers and sold online — sure enough, that's exactly what happened.

Listing for Star Wars advance screenings have started popping up on eBay, and it's just as bad as you'd expect — if not worse. This isn't someone trying to get $30 for a $15 ticket: most of the listings are asking for $100 or more, with several asking for a few hundred apiece. True, scalpers have been around for ages, but ... is anyone really willing to pay $2,000 for a single movie ticket?

Apparently (and thankfully), no: most of the listings on eBay currently have a grand total of zero bids. People are subscribing to the pages, but whether or not this will actually amount to anything has yet to be seen — if anything, the people watching these listings are simply waiting for the seller to realize that no one will pay $100+ for a movie ticket and drop the price to something reasonable.

Stunts like this aren't entirely unheard of, but the prices these eBay sellers are asking for is on an entirely new level. That being said, considering just how obsessive some Star Wars fans can be, it wouldn't be all that surprising if someone made some serious money off of all this.

Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens hits theaters on Dec. 18.
