When news broke that a sixth "Die Hard" film is in the works, with "Underworld" director Len Wiseman attached to helm, Bruce Willis was "very happy."

The actor was at the premiere of "Rock the Kasbah," his latest film, in New York, and Willis was more than forthcoming about his excitement at the prospect of revisiting the franchise. He said it was a good idea, but it was also a tricky one because as the origin story, the movie will call for a lot of bouncing back and forth.

"I'm very happy about it. It's a really cool idea," he added.

The first "Die Hard" movie was shown in 1988, with Willis playing John McClane, an iconic hero cop that (as the four other Die Hard movies would also show) happens to be the right man who's always at the wrong place at the wrong time.

In the first movie, McClane put his life on the line to save innocent people from the clutches of murderous thieves. The last time he was seen in action, in "A Good Day to Die Hard" McClane is seen coming to his son's aid against Mother Russia's worst. The said film also marked the franchise's 25th anniversary.

Seeing as the sixth installment is being treated as a prequel, this would mean that Willis may be appearing in the movie in a limited capacity. Maybe in a few flashbacks here and there? The franchise has been a big part of Willis' life, however, so it's hard to believe that he will be satisfied just popping in every now and then. And true enough, he revealed that he's probably going to be on board as producer for the next "Die Hard" film.

There's no word as well as to who will be playing the young McClane, but Willis hopes he's got a hard head on him.

The new "Die Hard" film won't be due for a few more years, but it joins a number of movies being released from popular franchises. This year, at least, movie fans can expect "Spectre," "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2," "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" and "Mission Impossible 5."
