A press release by The Walt Disney Company shows that it already reached 11.8 million new subscribers for its growing streaming platform, Disney+, in the first quarter of the year. The numbers are facing a massive high for its platform, and it is due to the releases it had for the last quarter of 2021 featuring animated and live-action films or series.
One of which is the Colombian musical, "Encanto," which recently got an Oscar nomination for Best Animation and Best Original Score for Lin Manuel-Miranda. Another is the Christmas-centered series of Marvel's "Hawkeye" that followed the solo story of Avengers' Clint Barton and his unlikely partnership with a new young archer.
Other notable shows streamed via Disney+, making it a premier stop for the latest entertainment platform in the market now.
Disney+ Brings New Content to the Platform this 2022
Disney's CEO Bob Chapek also brought the new content Disney+ has to offer for the public in its streaming platform for 2022. One of which is Steven Spielberg's "The West Side Story" that would stream this March, along with the confirmation of the long-awaited solo story of "Obi-Wan" that will feature a limited series explaining his life from the events of Episode III to Episode IV.
