Chromecast owners can now stream a wide array of cable TV channels as Dish-owned Sling TV has finally landed on Google's next-generation media dongle.

With the added Sling TV support, users can now navigate the multitude of channels offered with the use of their devices to transmit the content to the bigger screen without leaving the sofa.

"Starting today, Sling TV supports Google’s Chromecast, making it even more convenient for customers to stream the best live and on-demand programming to their TVs using their Android smart phones and tablets, iPhones and iPads," boasts Sling TV in a blog post. "And don’t worry, Windows and Mac casters, we’re working on future compatibility for your laptops as well."

This new added functionality makes multitasking even smoother, allowing users to watch their favorite movies and TV shows while texting or surfing the net using their smartphones, tablets or laptops.

Added Perks

Sling TV is throwing in a slew of perks to sweeten the pot. New users can prepay for three months of “Best of Live TV” and they will get a second-generation Google Chromecast, of course, absolutely free.

Additionally, new Sling TV customers can likewise take advantage of the two-month trial of the "Best of Live TV" package (again, free of charge), that runs $20 every month. Users should sign up from the Chromecast website starting Nov. 3.

Enjoy Over 20 Channels

Sling TV says Chromecast users can now experience over 20 channels, which include AMC, ESPN, TNT, HGTV and A&E. What users only need to do is to head over to iTunes and Google Play and download the Sling TV application. They can also use the Chromecast app.

Sling TV has yet to reveal its plans in creating an app for the fourth-generation Apple TV. However, judging from the company's efforts to become a practicable cable alternative for consumers, a possibility exists that an app is already in the works and will soon make its way to Apple's newest black box.

Meanwhile, for users who want to stream their local content to Apple's set-top box, Plex has already landed on Apple TV.
