It took nearly 15 years to happen, but the sequel to 2001's hit international and Oscar-winning film Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon will arrive soon and has its first trailer to prove it.

The film comes courtesy of Netflix, which released the trailer featuring Michelle Yeoh reprising her role as Yu Shu Lien. There's also Glee's Harry Shum, Jr. and Rogue One's Donnie Yen joining her in the franchise's signature action sequences.

Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny follows Yu Shu Lien, who is now responsible for protecting a special sword from an evil warlord. The trailer features the fantastic effects fans expect from the franchise, with high-flying stunts and lots of extraordinary martial arts and swordplay.

Although the film was not directed by Ang Lee, who directed the original, it seems it's in good hands with Yuen Woo-ping, who choreographed The Matrix, along with several Jackie Chan films.

Probably the biggest difference in this film from its original, though, is that it's in English (the original was in Mandarin).

Sword of Destiny is not without controversy, though. Because Netflix plans on offering the movie on its streaming subscription service on the same day it releases it to IMAX theaters, some theater chains plan on boycotting the film.

"While a home video release may be simultaneously performing in certain IMAX locations, at Regal we will not participate in an experiment where you can see the same product on screens varying from three stories tall to 3 inches wide on a smartphone," said Russ Nunley, Regal's vice president of marketing and communications to the L.A. Times. "We believe the choice for truly enjoying a magnificent movie is clear."

Other theater chains joining Regal in the boycott include Cinemark, Carmike and AMC Theaters.

AMC owns more IMAX theaters in the world than any other company.

"No one has approached us to license this made-for-video sequel in the U.S. or China, so one must assume the screens IMAX committed are in science centers or aquariums," said AMC.

This isn't the first time that Netflix films have seen boycotts by theater chains. When Netflix released its feature film Beasts of No Nation earlier this year to theaters and Netflix, all four companies also refused to show the film on their screens. Although the film did mediocre at the box office, it received critical praise and garnered more subscribers (which means more money) for Netflix's streaming subscription service.

Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny will come to select IMAX theaters and Netflix on Feb. 26.
