As Apple is supposedly getting ready to announce its latest smartphone at a media event planned for September 9 waves of rumors regarding everything from display insight to form factor are hitting harder and faster each week.

If even half of the rumors about the iPhone 6 are true, the next version of the smartphone will features significant changes both inside and out.

Reports claim the iPhone 6 will be offered in 4.7 inch and 5.5 inch versions, but there have been conflicting news alerts about what substances will be used to compose the handset's screen, from a pure-sapphire screen to a glass-sapphire composite.

As far as the casing, a screenshot of what was said to be an iPhone 6 shell surfaced back in July of 2014. The shell appeared to be primarily composed of aluminum, with strips of non-conductive polymer inserts to allow radio signals to pass back and forth from the phone -- while the device's logo appeared to flush with the rest of the shell, there was no evidence that the Apple would glow as suggested by several reports.

With iOS 8, beta version 5, now available to developers, the latest version of Apple's mobile operating system will undoubtedly roll out on the iPhone 6. Version 6 of iOS 8 beta has been planned for an August 16 release to developers, which will serve as the last external test period until the OS is ready for a full release.

Details on the hardware for the iPhone 6 has been scarce, but one report claims there'll be A8 processor clocked at 2.0 Ghz per core -- a A8 processor began shipping from an Apple supplier back in July of 2014.

The report also said the iPhone 6 will use that latest standard in WiFi technology, "wireless ac," and the smartphone will use Category 6 LTE to deliver transfer rates of up to 300Mbps. Another report claims the smartphone may be fitted with technology to recognize Beats headphones.

Apple is said to have requested between 70 and 80 million iPhone 6s from its suppliers. If speculation about the iPhone 6 versions are true, the 5.5 inch version of the phone will likely ship weeks after the 4.7 inch model.
