A woman from Miami pulls over a police for speeding. The unusual overturn of events led to the officer giving the woman an apology.

Claudia Castillo was driving along Miller Avenue on Friday afternoon when the police vehicle sped past hers. Shocked, she decided to follow the officer and record everything. She placed her camera phone on the dashboard and narrated what's going on.

The Chase
"I've been following an officer since Miller," she says in the video. Miller Drive has a 40 mph speed limit.

Castillo knew that the police officer was speeding because she was driving at 80 mph, yet she could not catch up to him. She believes the police was driving at 100 mph.

"He's been driving recklessly," she says.

Castillo continued to follow the officer as it zoomed past 826 northbound, then 836 eastbound. As they approach I-95 in downtown Miami, the police officer finally pulled over.

The Pull Over
At the exit ramp of N.W. 8th Street, the two cars stopped. The police got off his vehicle and approach Castillo's car. The tables turned when she asked stern questions that police officers usually ask speeding offenders.

"The reason why I pulled you over today," Castillo starts. She then asked the unnamed police where he was going and why he was speeding.

The police officer listened attentively and admitted he's on his way to work. Even though unaware of his speed, he believes that he's not overspeeding, and told Castillo that she is entitled to her own opinion.

The police said he pulled over because he thought Castillo has an emergency. He even asked her if everything is fine. Castillo answers that nothing's wrong, except that he was speeding.

At the end of the conversation, the police officer apologized, saying he will surely slow down.

Police Statement
Miami-Dade police director Juan Perez says they will identify the officer and the citizen, after which they will ask the immediate command staff of the police to investigate and implement the appropriate action.

Public Comments

Castillo garnered positive and negative comments after posting the video online. Some called her names and even told her to get a life. Some online users, however, praised and thanked her for standing up.
