"A nightmare for some, for others a savior I come, my hands cold and bleak, it's the warm hearts they seek, who am I?" asks Edward Nygma in a new promo for the next episode of Gotham.

The episode, titled "Into The Woods," shows Edward making his way through the woods, holding a gun on someone and spouting one of his many riddles, as he goes further down the rabbit hole that will eventually turn him into iconic Batman villain The Riddler.

Please note that the following contains spoilers from Monday night's episode of Gotham.

At the beginning of the promo, Oswald mourns for his father, who died on Monday night's episode. He stands in a near-empty church, devastated, likely at the beginning of becoming himself again, in spite of Dr. Hugo Strange's experiments that briefly "cured" him. The video also features Barbara, outside of Arkham Asylum, also supposedly cured, although by now, viewers will realize that Dr. Strange's therapies probably aren't that effective and probably do more harm than good.

Toward the end of the video, there's Bruce Wayne dashing across the rooftops of the city, a hint to the character he will one day become, Batman.

A few episodes ago, Bruce decided to leave Wayne Manor to find his way on the streets of Gotham City with Selina, which left Alfred, Bruce's butler, mentor and guardian, to his own devices.

"With any teenager, they are always going to elbow their way towards trying to find their own path," Sean Pertwee, the actor behind Alfred, said to CarterMatt.com. "They have to come apart in order to bunch back together, and I think Alfred, to his dismay, has to accept that. There will be an indication that they have to go through these processes. I have a teenage son like Alfred myself, and you have to find ways to be able to communicate. They can go off on their own, but you hope that you can continue to [reach] a young person, especially a damaged young person like Master Bruce."

Gotham is on hiatus next week, but returns to Fox on April 11.
