A new report has emerged on the Web claiming that Samsung could soon ditch the notification LED on its Galaxy devices in favor of the so-called Smart Glow.

There is no denying that among the plus sides of having Android phones is that several phone makers pack a notification LED into their devices that are deemed handy, as it tells users when they have missed calls, they got new text messages or tweets.

Now, a report from SamMobile, citing its source Galaxy Club, says that the South Korea-based firm will introduce Samsung Smart Glow as its alternative to the notification LED down the line.

Where Is The Smart Glow Feature Located

This feature, which comes with a colored luminous ring, surrounds the rear camera lens and lights up to notify phone owners not only of calls and texts but when the phone has reached full charge or when its battery is already low.

The good news is, it will not only be limited to replacing the notification LED. This nifty feature will also be a boon to users when they wish to take photos of themselves using the more powerful main camera located at the back of the Samsung device. With the help of the feature's Selfie Assist option, taking a selfie with the rear camera will no longer be tricky, as Smart Glow will light up when the camera detects the user's face. The shooter will then automatically snap a photo in just a few seconds.

Rumor has it that Samsung could include this Smart Glow functionality into the forthcoming Galaxy J2 (2016) device which is poised to arrive in India. At the moment, Samsung has yet to reveal if it will also incorporate this feature to its upcoming flagship handsets, such as the future Galaxy S smartphones or the Galaxy Note 7.

Since there is nothing official yet, it is always best to take this kind of story with a dose of skepticism. For now, it is also wise to file this story under the rumor category.

Galaxy J2 (2016) Smartphone

Last month, Tech Times reported that the 2016 variant of the Galaxy J2 handset from Samsung has passed through the United States regulatory body FCC. Sporting the model name SM-J210F, the FCC listing is a good indication that the release of this phone in the United States market could already be just around the corner.

For the uninitiated, the Galaxy J2 (2016) is the heir of the Galaxy J2 (2015). It is also worth mentioning that this is a mid-range phone from Samsung.

Speculation is rife saying that this smartphone could feature a 4.7-inch Super AMOLED display that has a 1,280 x 720 resolution. Reportedly, the handset could be equipped with a 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal storage, a microSD slot along with a Spreadtrum SC8830 quad-core processor.
