After the successful release of the mobile game Pokémon GO, it appears that more people than ever are getting into augmented reality gaming. However, many consumers have been waiting for months to be able to further immerse themselves into the virtual world with their Oculus Rift headsets.

Now, all the virtual reality headsets that were preordered have finally been shipped to customers.

Oculus Rift first became available for preorder in January and was officially released to the public on March 28. However, because of high demand, the wearable devices were on back-order. This caused many customers to complain, with Oculus attempting to smooth things over by not charging the shipping cost of the preorders.

It has taken the company over three months to ship out all the preorders, but the company announced in a blog post on Tuesday that it is now all caught up.

"We want to apologize for the delays in getting Rifts to doorsteps. We appreciate that without your support, VR wouldn't be where it is today. Thank you for your patience over the past few months," the company stated.

Those who have waiting to purchase the VR headset can now purchase the Oculus Rift and receive it in the same week, within two to four business days.

Still can't decide between the $599 Rift and HTC's Vive headset, which costs $799? Oculus revealed that consumers will be able to get hands-on with the VR device at select Microsoft Stores starting this month, as well as check out demos at more than 500 Best Buy stores in the U.S. from now until the fall.

Even though it took some time for the Rift to reach the homes of consumers, Oculus said that the launch of Touch, the VR controllers, is on track for sometime in the second half of the year. The price of the Oculus Touch is not yet known.

Oculus wasn't the only company that had delays in shipping of its preorders. Some who preordered the HTC Vive didn't get their VR headsets until June, after it began shipping in April.

Oculus also announced that its developer conference Connect 3 will be held from Oct. 5 to 7 in San Jose, Calif. The company said that it will be its "largest developer conference yet," with keynotes from Brendan Iribe, John Carmack and Michael Abrash, as well as a look at new hardware and content.
