Nike opened a new store in New York City not too long ago, and it's not just a regular Nike store, for this one is filled with technology. It is not surprising when we consider the fact that Nike has dabbled in the technology field several times in the past.

The location of the New York store is in a neighborhood called SoHo, which is where some of the biggest brands have their shops situated. Adidas, Apple, and Google. We understand the size of the store is around five-stories tall with 55,000-square-foot space filled with all different time of technologies.

The Engadget guys visited the store, and from the images taken, it comes off as a great place to shop for footwear and other sports-related cosmetics.

Will This Nike Store Be Selling Tech

No, it won't. According to a report from the company, it's all about improving the shopping experience. Whenever folks enter the store, they'll come across 3D printed decorations of all kind, and even a basketball court powered by Kinect. That's impressive right?

It gets even better when one considers that it also supports Apple Pay. Well, it gets better for Apple consumers, we should have said. Now, if you're lost as to what you should buy, the store has several large touchscreens on walls to help in the decision factor.

"We're leading the transformation of sport retail - offering the best of Nike products, services and experiences under one roof," says Heidi O'Neill, Nike's President of Global Direct to Consumer. "With Nike Soho, we can realize the promise of personalized performance. Powered by immersive digital trials and in-store experts, this store is about elevating every athlete's potential."

Adding technology to the buying experience is a great idea. Folks who are purchasing shoes can use the Kinect-powered basketball court to see themselves in the shoe and how they look while jumping at the hoop. As Nike said, it's all about the experience, an this is definitely one way to go about it.

It makes sense for Nike to build a store such as this one, after all, the company is planning to sell its Hyperadapt 1.0 Back to The Future shoes come Nov. 8, 2016. The shoe is designed to lace itself, but don't expect it to work in the same way as the shoes seen in the movie.

Nike has also worked with Apple on what is known as the Apple Watch Nike+. It's all about fitness tracking with this watch, and it is built on top of the Apple Watch 2, so it will support all the great things Apple has brought to the table.
