Capcom already announced its intent to develop titles for the Nintendo Switch, which is really not surprising because it is one of the companies identified as development partners of the system. Unfortunately, they do not include Resident Evil 7.

It's A No For Switch

The bad news has been delivered by Masachika Kawata, game producer at Capcom. His pronouncement did not include a definitive no, but he categorically rejected any speculation that it is developing a Resident Evil 7 Switch version or plans to do so in the near future.

"I think it's a very unique piece of hardware," Kawata said in an Express Online interview. "I'm looking forward to the possibilities of the system itself, but we have no plans at the moment regarding Resident Evil on Switch."

The speculation about the possibility of the game heading to Switch can be attributed to the fact that latest Resident Evil 7 Biohazard will launch on Jan. 24. Nintendo Switch, meanwhile, will begin rolling out on March 3. It is not surprising, therefore, to find fans hoping to play it in the new console.

Some sources believe that Capcom is adopting a wait-and-see approach to determine how the console will perform in the market.

Capcom's Switch Alternates

As the game is already off the table at this point, Switch owners could still look forward to Capcom's future Switch offerings. For example, the game studio already announced that Switch will be getting the Ultra Street Fighter II.

This game does not appear to be a mere port or reworked content for the console. Based on official pronouncements and the recently released official teaser, the game will have new heroes and game modes. Switch players also have the option to play in HD graphics or the retro pixel-art mode.

Upcoming Switch Games

Finally, one should remember that Capcom and Resident Evil are just minor blips in Nintendo Switch's orbit. There are several other content developers that committed an array of excellent titles.

Nicalis Games is a case in point. It has already revealed that it is working on The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+. Leaked images also showed that its other games such as 1001 Spikes and Cave Story will be heading to the console as well.

Games arriving with the Switch include Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Just Dance 2017, Skylanders Imaginators, and Super Bomberman R.

Overall, the number of games that will support Switch promises to be a popular console, and this could also be indicated by the way preorders have been sold out. Those who would like to purchase the device could, therefore, potentially encounter problems in terms of availability at launch due to high demand.

Nintendo Switch retails for $299.
