The newest console coming out in Microsoft's Xbox series has already been tested for games and is reportedly working fine.

The console, dubbed Project Scorpio, is the next-gen gaming console in the Xbox lineup.

What Is The Status Of Project Scorpio?

Xbox's boss Phil Spencer has tweeted that he has played and tested some games on the Xbox Scorpio for the first time. Until now, Microsoft was likely using developer kits and computers to test this console.

This tweet indicates that developers have already finished laying out the system components and are ready with the initial version of the console. Spencer also mentioned that the "console looked right," which is an indication towards the fact that Microsoft has probably designed the Xbox Scorpio's exterior too.

Spencer also confirmed that both the games and hardware of the Xbox Scorpio were already in production.

How Powerful Is the Scorpio?

Project Scorpio will have a graphics system that will be at par with any of the current gaming consoles. It will reportedly contain the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070, delivering 6.5TFLOPs of performance. This is the latest offering by Nvidia and the graphics will be equivalent to a mid-range desktop PC.

Any Word On Exclusive Games?

Microsoft had initially revealed that the Xbox Scorpio would not have any exclusive games assigned to it. All the current games for Xbox One would be working on the Xbox Scorpio. The company, however, has not ruled out Scorpio-exclusive games. The console will also integrate virtual reality (VR) and will be supporting VR games as well.

What Does The Future Hold For The Xbox Line?

Microsoft has gone on record saying that the Xbox will not change as a platform. The accessories and games working on the previous versions of the console would work on the Scorpio too. However, it isn't clear whether new games launched would get versions for both the Xbox One and Xbox Scorpio.

How Pricey Will It Be?

No official word on the price of the console but speculations are rife that the Xbox Scorpio will make your pockets lighter by $600.

Availability

The Xbox Scorpio will reportedly go on sale in time for the 2017 holiday season. Since the previous editions of Xbox launched in November, it can safely be assumed that Microsoft will take the same route for the Xbox Scorpio.

With games now being tested on the Xbox Scorpio, the gaming community eagerly awaits its launch. Whether the newest version of Xbox will give competitors nightmares remains to be seen.
