Bandai Namco is bringing the Tekken fighting game franchise anew to iOS and Android devices with Tekken Mobile, which has soft launched in Canada and is now open for pre-registrations in the United States.

The announcement of Tekken Mobile also came with a brief gameplay trailer that showed off some of the characters that will be featured in the mobile game.

How Is 'Tekken Mobile' Different From 'Tekken 7'?

Playing Tekken on mobile devices will understandably be different from playing Tekken 7 in arcades or on the PlayStation 4.

In Tekken Mobile, fan favorites such as Kazuya, Christie, Paul, King, Law, Eddy, and Xiaoyu are among the over 100 playable characters that gamers can use in one-on-one battles. The characters can be upgraded to unlock new moves and to create unique styles that cater to different players.

Similar to other mobile spin-offs for Mortal Kombat X and Injustice, players will be assembling teams of three fighters to take on opponents either in Story Mode or in online matches under the Dojo Challenge.

In Story Mode, players will assist Kazuya Mishima in the fight against Revenant, a new enemy in the franchise created specifically for Tekken Mobile. Bandai Namco will also be hosting live events for Tekken Mobile with content following different themes.

Tekken 7 features many complex mechanics, but most of them have been converted for Tekken Mobile using so-called "Waza Cards." These cards, which can be unlocked through in-game objectives or in-app purchases, allow players to launch special moves in battles.

Tekken Mobile Pre-Registrations Unlock Rewards

An early version of Tekken Mobile can now be downloaded in Canada, but for fans of the fighting franchise everywhere else, it is recommended that you pre-register on the Tekken Mobile official website.

For Tekken Mobile, Bandai Namco is offering different Tekken Mobile rewards to pre-registered players, depending on how many pre-registrations the mobile game receives. The first tier gives pre-registered players 10,000 coins and 100 gems to be used in the game; the second tier gives players a random one-star character, an experience booster, a level 2 health pack, a level 2 revive, and a level 2 team health pack; and the third tier offers similar rewards to the second tier, except that the random character is a two-star one and the bonuses are level 3.

If enough players pre-register to achieve the fourth tier, a secret character created exclusively for Tekken Mobile will be unlocked, along with the rewards of the previous two tiers with level 4 bonuses. From the shadow in the graphic for the fourth tier, it appears that this character is not Revenant but rather another new one for the franchise.
