It looks like Lenovo plans to shake up the competition for best battery life with the Miix 630 2-in-1 laptop, which sports Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC.

What's immediately uncanny about the Miix 630 is its close resemblance to Microsoft's own 2-in-1 Surface lineup. Their similarity somehow ends there as the absence of a kickstand and lack of an Intel or AMD CPU sets the Lenovo device apart from existing models.

So far, the biggest advantage highlighted by its use of Qualcomm's ARM-based processor is the 20-hour endurance it supposedly gets from a single charge.

Qualcomm Powered Lineup

The Miix 630 is not the only Windows 2-in-1 that is running on Qualcomm's processor. However, it is part of a lineup of laptops from different manufacturers like the Asus NovaGo and HP Envy X2.

It is unconfirmed of the other two models likewise boast great battery life like Lenovo's claims. However, users can expect, more or less, the same advantages the Smartphone CPU provides like instant wake-from-sleep, LTE connectivity, and more.

Design And Quality

The Lenovo Miix 630 is constructed with a metal body that features a matte-textured finish. Its display is reportedly covered by a sheet of Corning's Gorilla Glass panel to protect the screen from bumps and scratches.

Its upper part slopes at an angle toward the back side while the bottom edge flaunts a curved design. With no means to prop itself up, the laptop is forced to rely on its keyboard cover with the integrated kickstand.

The top edge houses the two microphones pinholes and its power button, which also functions as the sleep/wake toggle. Along the curved bottom edge is the connector that accepts the magnetic keyboard folio cover.

On the right flank sits the volume rocker toward the top, a speaker grille, and USB Type-C port. Lastly, the left flank features another speaker grille, an SD card slot, a nano SIM slot, and what looks like a 3.5mm headset jack.

Overall, the build quality appears to be premium and sturdy, which looks classy together with its keyboard cover.

Hardware And Specifications

As indicated above, the Miix 630 advertises 4G connectivity and longer battery life, thanks to its Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset. RAM starts off with a standard 4GB that can be upgraded to 8GB.

Graphics and lightweight gaming are supported by the integrated Adreno 540 GPU. A 12.3-inch touchscreen with a 1920 x 1280 display resolution takes the front while its rear is featureless except for the discrete Lenovo logo on the bottom right corner.

The imaging department uses a 13-megapixel IR front-facing camera with Windows Hello support and a 5-megapixel rear shooter. The backlit keyboard cover with a touchpad is included in the package together with a pressure-sensitive stylus.

Storage options available are 64 GB, 128 GB, and 256 GB. Interested buyers should note that the laptop runs on Windows 10 S but can be upgraded to run the regular version.

Pricing And Availability

Performance-wise the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC onboard the Lenovo Miix 630 is as capable as a 7th-generation Intel Core-i3 CPU. Nevertheless, 4G LTE connectivity and a 20-hour usage time are some of its redeeming aspects.

Carrying a starting price of $800, the 2-in-1 laptop is slated to launch Q2 2018.
