After a brutal first half for season five, The Walking Dead is on break. When it returns on February 8, where will Rick and the rest of the survivors be?

AMC has released a two-and-a-half minute preview of the remaining episodes in season five, with actors Andrew Lincoln, executive producer Scott Gimple and others from the show discussing the state of their characters and the group in general moving into the back-half of the season.

Spoilers below if you have yet to watch the first half of season five.

Rick and the gang are once again on the road without much of a direction.

"The scripts I've read and the stuff we've been filming, it feels like a new show visually and also story wise," Lincoln says in the video.

The crew lost a beloved member at the end of the season's halfway point with the death of Beth. That will be driving Maggie's story in the episodes to come, as she struggles to cope with the loss of her sister.

Eugene, who admitted to lying about the whole "I'm the scientist who can save the world thing," is also sure to have an interesting second half of season five. Despite the group risking their lives for Eugene time and time again for a false cause, he is still traveling with Rick and the others. It's a sign of humanity that the group hasn't tossed him out on his own, but will their tolerance of Eugene last? After all, what does he have to contribute?

No doubt there will still be plenty of surprises in store for fans. The preview doesn't hint at much beyond the group traveling and trying to survive like usual, but with danger lurking around every corner of The Walking Dead world, it's best to start expecting the unexpected.
