Samsung Galaxy smartphone owners will now find it much easier to have their devices fixed, as the company rolled out a same-day repair service through a partnership with uBreakiFix.

One of the advantages that Apple had over Samsung was the convenient locations of Apple Stores, where customers can have their iPhones repaired. That advantage has now been completely erased.

Samsung Rolls Out Same-Day Repair Service

Samsung announced the launch of a same-day repair service to all of its smartphone customers in the United States through an official press release.

According to Samsung, starting March 15, its customers may have their Galaxy smartphones repaired in more than 300 authorized uBreakiFix locations across the country. Customers will receive same-day support, and most repairs will be completed within two hours.

Galaxy smartphone owners will be able to schedule appointments through the dedicated repairs page for Samsung Care-authorized uBreakiFix locations. Customers will also be allowed to come in without an appointment, but they will have to leave their smartphone.

The uBreakiFix locations will cover repairs for the Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Plus, Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Edge, Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8 Plus, Galaxy S9, Galaxy S9 Plus, Galaxy Note 5, and Galaxy Note 8. The problems that may be fixed include replacements for the front and back screens, replacements for batteries, and repairs for the camera and ports.

In addition to using only genuine Samsung parts, it also appears that the uBreakiFix partner locations will function very similar to Apple Stores. Staff will help customers set up their smartphones, demonstrate features, and answer any questions.

Smartphone Repairs: Samsung vs Apple

With 272 Apple Stores in the United States, iPhone owners have easy access to customer service and support. This has long been viewed as an advantage of Apple over Samsung, as authorized Galaxy smartphone service centers were comparatively few in the country. Samsung smartphone owners were previously forced to have their devices repaired in authorized centers with third-party parts.

However, the advantage held by Apple is now gone, and it will even find itself on the other side of the situation soon. In addition to the over 300 uBreakiFix locations in the United States, Samsung is planning to tap almost 200 more locations by early next year.

The Galaxy S9 teardown by iFixIt showed that the smartphone is difficult to repair on your own, so the launch of same-day repair centers comes at a great time. It remains to be seen, however, whether the easier access to repairs will translate to more sales for the Galaxy S9.
