OnePlus is ramping up the hype around the OnePlus 6 as it continues to release one teaser after another for the upcoming flagship.

OnePlus 6 Is Water-Resistant

OnePlus has released the latest teaser on Twitter, hinting that OnePlus 6 will boast water resistance to withstand the rain, at least.

"Don't you just hate it when you have to stop using your phone when it rains?" the company's official account tweeted.

The tweet also featured a GIF of water drops. According to speculations, being resistant to raindrops would make the OnePlus 6 have at least an IP65 rating.

For comparison, the latest flagships of bigger companies in the smartphone industry have an IP68 rating, which allows the phones to be submerged in up to 5 feet of water for a maximum of 30 minutes. An example would be the Samsung Galaxy S9 and the Sony Xperia XZ2.

It's unknown yet whether OnePlus 6 could be submerged in water too, similar to its competitors. It should have at least an IP67 rating to prove that the device is protected against immersion for a limited time. The iPhone 8 and iPhone X are in this category.

Previous OnePlus 6 Teasers

Although previous teasers for OnePlus 6 did not reveal much, one of them offered a look at the phone's left side. The alert slider, which was acknowledged by a precedent teaser, is replaced by a SIM card slot. Past flagships, including this year's iteration, have it on the left side and it's now revealed where it's placed.

The other teasers hinted at speedy performance and new features such as gestures but nothing conclusive just yet.

Design And Specifications

The OnePlus 6 design is supposed to be a secret, but it might have been unintentionally revealed by the case maker Olixar. The renders of the cases for the upcoming OnePlus flagship include the phone itself, revealing a notch like that of the iPhone X, two vertically-arranged cameras, and a fingerprint scanner shaped like the one on Samsung Galaxy S9.

Pete Lau, the OnePlus CEO, confirmed that under the hood, the latest version is coming with the new Snapdragon 845 processor, an 8 GB of RAM, and 256 GB internal storage. Based on previous leaks, another variant with a 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB internal memory might also be coming too.

The company has yet to announce when it will reveal the OnePlus 6, but rumors suggest it will happen either in May or in June. A leaked poster displayed that it is possibly happening on May 5, so OnePlus fans can mark this date on their calendar.
