Pedialyte has low-key been a known trick to alleviate hangovers, although the oral solution wasn't necessarily made for that. However, the newest release comes in packets of powders that's suitable for adults this holiday season.

Pedialyte is widely used to replenish electrolytes among babies and kids, but hard party-goers had long believed that it is effective as well in curing hangovers. Abbott Laboratories, the creator of the wonder drink, may have finally come to terms with how adults use their product.

Pedialyte As A Hangover Cure

The pharmaceutical company recently introduced the Pedialyte Sparkling Rush, which, unlike the ones for kids, come as powder that is dissolved in water, perfect for the holiday hangovers. Once poured into water, it will fizz, pretty much how oral rehydration salt tablets go when submerged in water.

Adults also don't have to worry about the taste as this Pedialyte powder comes in two flavors, grape and cherry. Currently, it is available in the United States at Target and Meijer, and in Amazon.

Pedialyte More Effective Than Sports Drinks

These also "replace fluids and electrolytes more effectively than sports drinks to help prevent dehydration caused by vomiting, diarrhea, exercise, travel, and heat exhaustion," Pedialyte said on its website, although obviously missing is the hard drinking, especially during the holidays.

For the past years, athletes turned to sports drink to rehydrate after an exhausting workout and other people after diarrhea. However, Pedialyte had also gained popularity among those needing a quick fix from a night out, despite the colorful packaging of the oral solution.

As per the press release, sports drinks worsen dehydration because these contain relatively high amounts of sugar and are lower in sodium than Pedialyte. It also boasts that the products don't have artificial colors, unlike the usual energy beverage found in groceries.

In 2015, adults account for one-third of Pedialyte sales, therefore the company's recent target of the age range is a no-brainer.
