A six-year-old South Korean YouTube star with an impressive 30 million subscribers has earned enough money to purchase a multimillion dollar property in one of the richest areas of Seoul.

Five-Story Building In Gangnam

The child celebrity bought the five-story building worth 9.5 billion Korean won ($8 million) in an affluent suburb in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam.

Public real estate registration document shows that the Boram Family company, which was set up by the girls' parents, purchased the 258.3-square-meter property on April 3, gaining full ownership over it.

30 Million Subscribers From Two YouTube Channels

Boram has two YouTube channels. Boram Tube ToysReview, which is intended for posting toy reviews, has 13.6 million subscribers. The other account, Boram Tube Vlog, has 17.6 million subscribers.

In one of her most popular clips, which now has more than 376 million views, the YouTube star, along with her friends, makes Pororo Black Instant Noodles using a plastic toy kitchen and then excitedly eats them.

YouTubers earn money in several ways, such as by taking a cut of the ads that play on their videos and by collaborating with brands to sell their products or feature them in their content.

In Boram's case, she links out to products featured in her video reviews.

Controversies

Some of the child's videos, however, have stirred controversy because of the values they promote.

In 2017, non-government organization Save the Children received complaints over concerns Boram's videos could have adverse effects on the ethical and emotional development of young viewers.

The concern stemmed from staged clips showing Boram stealing money from her father's wallet and apparently driving cars on the road.

After the videos were reported, the Seoul Family Court ordered Boram's parents to complete a counseling course on preventing child abuse. The offending videos have since been removed.

YouTube Child Stars

YouTube has become a money-generating platform for a growing number of kids.

YouTube child stars earn impressive amounts from their channels. Seven-year-old Ryan Kaji of Ryan ToysReview was named the highest earning YouTuber in 2018. He earned an estimated $22 million from his channel with more than 20.8 million subscribers.
