Google Photos now has new features that can help people relive precious memories in two different ways. Memories will help users take “a stroll down memory lane” straight from the app.

Google Photos Memories

People nowadays can take so many pictures that it can become difficult to look for a specific one from years ago. This can be frustrating, especially when the user is trying to reminisce on a good memory but simply can’t find the specific photo they are looking for. Now, Google Photos has a new feature that will make searching for older pictures much easier.

With Memories, people can see photos from previous years presented in a slideshow, similar to how they are presented on other social media platforms. The photos are specifically curated to present the best copies of photos from a specific time period so users don’t have to sift through duplicates, and they can easily hide people or time periods they do not want to revisit. They can even shut the feature off entirely if they want.

Memories has its own carousel below the search bar, and it is rolling out on both Android and iOS.

Search And Share Photos

If a user still can’t find the desired photo, he or she can simply use the search function. For instance, in searching for a photo from a friend’s birthday, one only has to type “birthday” on the search bar and all photos relevant to “birthday” will turn up. This search feature works even for photos with text.

According to Google, it will also be easier to share photos to family and friends within the app in the coming months.

Printed Photos

Apart from the new Memories feature, Google Photos now lets people order printed 4x6 photos directly from the app and pick them up on the same day from one of 11,000 CVS Pharmacy or Walmart branches with print centers. And if small photos aren’t enough, users can also order canvass prints in sizes 8x8, 12x14, or 16x20. Prices start at $19.99, and the printed canvass will be delivered straight to the user’s home.

“With all of these new features, you can relive your best memories, share them with the people that matter, and get them off of your phone and into your home,” said Shimrit Ben-Yair, Google Photos Director.
