When consumers get their hands on the Pixel 4, one of the features they'll enjoy is the ability to control the device without touching it.

With Motion Sense, Pixel 4 can access and control certain apps using gestures over the screen, such as skipping songs with a single wave of the hand. It's a cool feature, but at its launch, it appears that the motion sensing capabilities of the phone won't be universally available.

New reports revealed that only certain countries and apps are compatible with Pixel 4's Motion Sense.

Motion Sense Limited Release

The Motion Sense feature is based on Project Soli, which relies on advanced radar technology, according to a report from Gizmochina. To use this technology, Google has to seek permission in every country it's entering.

So far, there are 38 countries and territories that are listed as compatible in the Motion Sense app in the Malaysian blog NextRift, which means these are the countries and territories that have already granted permission to Google.

For now, the countries and territories that are listed as compatible with the Motion Sense app are:

  • American Samoa
  • Austria
  • Belgium
  • Bulgaria
