A 5G variant of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 could be right around the corner, and it could pave the way for 5G-capable tablets.

The South Korean brand has been among the leading companies pushing for the development of the fifth-generation cellular network, and with that said, it's not surprising to see it expanding the technology to devices beyond the smartphone.

Galaxy Tab S6 5G

As the Dutch blog Galaxy Club reports, the Galaxy Tab S6 5G turned up at database of the Wi-Fi Alliance (PDF) and Bluetooth SIG with the model number SM-T866N. It has a date of certification of Sept. 20 in the former and a publish date of Sept. 19 in the latter.

It's unclear which regions it's going to be available in, but it's safe to say that it's guaranteed to hit the shelves in the manufacturer's home country of South Korea. As evidence to that, the "N" in the model number usually means it's a device geared toward the South Korean market.

For the uninitiated, devices must be approved by the Wi-Fi Alliance and Bluetooth SIG before they can be available to the public. At that, these listings are pretty much a confirmation that the Galaxy Tab S6 5G is indeed real and will launch in the near future, though there's still no word on its release date or price. For reference, the Wi-Fi-only version of the tablet starts at $649.99, and it was announced back in August.

Samsung And 5G

Samsung is one of the biggest advocates of 5G, as mentioned earlier. It has released a slew of smartphones that support it, after all, including the Galaxy S10 and Galaxy Note 10.

It even has a 5G variant of its foldable phone, the Galaxy Fold. On top of that, it has made 5G more accessible with the Galaxy A90, a midrange device that's capable of using the next-generation network technology.
