The world of games has been constantly evolving and although the mainstream success of Sony's PlayStation has been phenomenal, the company is facing severe problems with their price hike and Sony is in fear that the PS5 may be too expensive. Microsoft, Amazon, and Google have already redirected their focus to the future and have prepared for this shift.
PS5 Could be Last
It was reported by Bloomberg that a total estimate of the PS5's manufacturing cost has gone up to $450 dollars which means that pricing the PS5 might have a negative effect because of the overboard cost! Although the PS4 was a mainstream success, Sony reportedly did not make that much money off of it. The bill for the PS4 was estimated at about $381 dollars and since Sony sold the PlayStation 4 at $399 dollars, the profits were not as good as the mainstream success.
Microsoft, Amazon, and Google's perspective is to adapt towards the future
With about 3.5 billion mobile phone users, these companies have already made plans to take advantage of this shift in technology. Microsoft has already been working on the xCloud which allows users to download and play their favorite games even on their cellphones which could mean that if Microsoft is able to launch this at just the right time in the future, Microsoft could be ahead in the world of gaming once more. Amazon and Google have already been focusing on their streaming platforms which post a huge threat to what else the PlayStation has to offer aside from games.
Outside research has shown that a shift from gaming consoles to mobile phone gaming could happen soon
With the upgrades on the capacity of the mobile phones and the way games are being developed. Outside research has made a strong hypothesis that in 2025, a huge shift towards mobile games will happen and gaming consoles might even become obsolete. Although this is still a very questionable theory, there is some truth behind this research as history has shown.
