Another routine mission for the company, SpaceX had just launched a Falcon 9 rocket, sending a new batch of satellites into Earth's orbit, but for the first time ever, its attempt on landing the Falcon 9 booster did not go as planned.

The booster was supposed to be caught by SpaceX's drone ship after delivering the said payload, but unexpectedly, it missed the floating platform and failed to land, losing it at sea.

SpaceX had lost a bunch of rocket boosters over the past years. In fact, in December 2018, The Falcon 9 booster also missed its landing at Cape Canaveral, plus so many other incidents. Though, launch accidents are not new to SpaceX. They even made an entire blooper video about all their failures and accidents.

What is SpaceX?

The company, 'SpaceX' has been designing, manufacturing and launching the world's most advanced rockets and spacecraft. Which was founded in 2002, with the only goal of giving a chance for people to live on other planets besides Earth.

The company has gained attention from people all over the world for a series of historic milestones. Currently the only private company that is capable of returning a spacecraft from low Earth orbit, which was done in 2010. SpaceX made history again in 2012 when its Dragon spacecraft was the first and only spacecraft to deliver payload to and from the International Space Station.

The company has first successfully achieved the first reflight of an orbital rocket in 2017, and they now regularly launch flight-proven rockets. In 2018, SpaceX began launching the Falcon Heavy, which was the world's most powerful operational rocket.

SapceX is one of the world's most fastest-growing providers of rocket launch services and the company has already secured over a hundred missions on its profile, representing over $12 billion on their contract. These do include the commercial satellite launches as well as some of the United States government missions. SpaceX's Dragon has also been flying numerous payload resupply missions to the space station with a series of contracts from the Commercial Resupply Services. It also was designed from the start to fly and carry humans to space and will soon fly astronauts under NASA's Commercial Crew Program.

Upon elevating on the achievements of Falcon 9 and Falcon Heavy, SpaceX is currently working on the next gen of fully reusable launch vehicles that will soon be the most powerful ever built in the history, that it is capable of carrying humans to Mars and other planets and locations in the solar system.
