Facebook has recently blocked an advertisement made by the United States President Donald Trump's ad team. The said ad had a symbol pertaining to the 'Nazi hate symbol' or the Antifa. This was the reason why the ad was removed on the platform, after a few hours, according to Facebook. As a defense, Trump's team accuses Facebook of discrimination since the symbol was said to be one of the social media's emojis, but not yet removed.

On Thursday, June 18, Facebook removed one of Trump's political ads on the platform over the Antifa symbol seen on the video. The video, called "Dangerous MOBS of far-left groups," was blocked after being posted for several hours after it featured a red-colored upside-down triangle.

The red-colored upside-down triangle is commonly a symbol representing the controversial Antifa symbol or the far-left activist groups in America.

Facebook said that they don't allow any representation of hateful organizations in the platform, so the post needs to be removed.

"We don't allow symbols that represent hateful organizations or hateful ideologies unless they are put up with context or condemnation," the social network's head of security policy, Nathaniel Gleicher, said on Thursday. "That's what we saw in this case with this ad, and anywhere that that symbol is used, we would take the same actions."

It was also noted by Facebook that the symbol was not explained properly on the advertisement, making it more prone to share misinformation to viewers-- which they don't want to happen.

Is Facebook discriminating?

In defense, the Trump's said that Facebook might be discriminating against them.

Tim Murtaugh, the campaign's communications director, said that the ad was made to inform Americans of the Antifa groups. This was the reason why the logo was intended to be included in the ad.

"The inverted red triangle is a symbol used by Antifa, so it was included in an ad about Antifa," Murtaugh told Fox News. "We would note that Facebook still has an inverted red triangle emoji in use, which looks exactly the same, so it's curious that they would target only this ad."

As of now, Facebook has not yet replied on comments regarding the issues.
