Twitter netizens cannot edit a tweet once it has been published. Knowing that Twitter is one of the world's most preferred social media platform for insights and opinion, having this feature is going to make a difference.

According to Daily Mail, the company might launch this feature anytime soon, but with a condition: users must wear their face masks.

Twitter tweeted on Thursday, July 2, "You can have an edit button when everyone wears a mask."

This particular post has been retweeted and shared more than 650,000 times, and netizens are excited. But they are concerned about the condition of wearing a mask before being able to use the edit button. The collective thought is, they would "rather not suffocate."

However, it may be a promotional tweet of the coronavirus. Through the years, there have been several discussions about adding the feature, and for now, it is still on the impossibility, the report added.

Twitter CEO

The CEO of the social networking company has discussed adding the edit button in 2016 but has yet to issue the official confirmation. Then, in 2018, Dorsey suggested adding this button, but basically to correct spelling errors.

Two years before, Twitter has been criticized should this feature will be enabled. These groups are saying that it might change the meanings of the tweets once they become editable.

"The answer is no," this is the latest statement from Dorsey when the media asked him about whether there will really be the edit button or not.

He pointed out that tweets work as SMS, and these text messages are not meant to be edited after they are sent.

Arguments

However, Dorsey said that editing tweets may have good repercussions. These include being able to fix typo errors and broken links. But at the same time, it may also lead to wrong information.

Whichever the tweet was meant for, the "most requested feature" is not happening soon.

A Twitter spokesperson said, "As Twitter Comms Tweeted, everyone means everyone,' nothing further to add beyond this!"

It may be part of the COVID-19 campaign since the virus still persists in the United States and the world. Facebook has its own, and it provides netizens with information about the virus and the latest details about the community. The world is now more than 10 million infections.

In the United States, there are almost three million COVID-19 cases, and in a few hours, the country will be hosting celebrations for its July 4 Independence Day weekend. Twitter's edit button may come into fruition when people wear masks. There have been several reactions, both fun and serious.
