How real can your video games be? An app developed by Unreal Engine has caught the eyes of all iPhone users. We have seen visual effects that change our favorite video game characters' faces--whether to copy famous actors or actresses. But, here's a new technology that may give you a more direct connection with your game. Unreal Engine has put the 'mocap' inside your iPhone. What's mocap?

Let your characters copy your face while in-game

Everytime you feel angry, stressed, excited, or happy during your game, your characters will show you what you looked like. That is the newest product of Epic Games' game engine Unreal Engine.

If you thought your game couldn't be more realistic, this new iPhone app will show you its max. The Verge reported on Thursday, July 9, about Epic Games' little surprise to all iOS users.

The app, Live Link Face, saves all your emotions in a database using the iPhone device. Just capture your different emotions with your phone, save those files in the Unreal Engine app, and let your characters feel you through the game.

The Epic Games' company was inspired by mocap (motion capture) in creating this unique app. Motion Capture has been a well-known technology that mostly used for gaming or movies.

It's a handy tool for facial expression detection and targets to help low-budget creators to fully finish their game in a state-of-the-art mocap tech for their chosen medium.

"Streamers will benefit from the app's ability to natively adjust when performers are sitting at their desk rather than wearing a head-mounted rig with a mocap suit, as Live Link Face can include head and neck rotation data as part of the facial tracking stream to provide more freedom of movement for their digital avatars with just the iPhone," said on the press release.

Live Link Face: Hows and dos of the app

Live Link Face is now available on the Apple store for those people interested in downloading it right away. Here's how it works, though.

Just like a regular app, search the Live Link Face to your Apple Store, download the app, and capture real-time emotions in your face. The app uses Apple's ARKit Framework and the same TrueDepth camera that you use for selfies. This means that the app will be producing high-definition captures that you can easily compare, once you've uploaded the data to the Unreal Engine app.

Is it open to Android?

Now, the Unreal Engine has not yet said whether the Live Link Face would have a spotlight too on Android users. But, there might chances it could be a long shot. At least iPhones have them.
