Can You Connect PS5 and Xbox Series X Controllers to Smartphone?
Perhaps you've had the same exact thought with past Microsoft and Sony controllers, but never really thought much of it.
However, if that idea sparked again, you now have an answer: YES.
According to TechRadar, these next-generation consoles can actually be connected to your smartphone, allowing you to use them when playing your favorite mobile games such as "Call of Duty Mobile."
If you have connected your previous controllers, specifically your Xbox One and DualShock Sense 4 controllers to your smartphone, then the process is basically the same.
But, here's the thing: Sony and Microsoft haven't exactly said that the controllers are compatible, but there have been dozens of anecdotal evidence saying they do pair with smartphone devices, although the Xbox controller may not function on iOS devices.
Moreover, you'll likely have to remap the buttons once you connect the controllers based on the game's you're playing.

What You'll Need
Of course, have your preferred controller in hand and your smartphone. For iOS devices, have it updated to at least iOS 13 (better if iOS 14), while Android devices should be updated to at least Android 10 (better if Android 11).
You can also bring a cord that works USB-C to USB-C for Android devices, or USB-C to Lightning cables for iPhone devices.
There's no need to download any app since you'll be connecting the controllers via Bluetooth.
How to Connect DualSense to Smartphone
Firstly, make sure your phone's Bluetooth is on. Then, you need to put your DualSense controller in pairing mode by holding the PS button on the controller until blue lights start flashing around the center of the controller.
On your phone, look for the DualSense controller, which might be named as "Wireless Controller," then tap it to connect.
You can also connect both devices via cable, to make life much easier for you.
How to Connect Xbox Series X Controller to Smartphone
Whether you own an Xbox Series X or Series S, no worries, both consoles have identical controllers so it should work regardless of what console you bought. But then again, it may not work on iOS devices yet.
As per Microsoft's Xbox FAQ, the Apple iOS support for the Xbox Wireless Controller won't be available on launch, but it's coming soon.
As with the DualSense, you need to ensure your Bluetooth is on in your smartphone, plus your controller is on as well. Then, hold the Pair button, which can be found on the back of the controller close to its USB-C port. Hold the button until the controller starts flashing.
Then, check your phone and tap on the "Wireless Controller" to connect.
