The "new normal" is picking up and it seems like Apple is trying to keep up with the current needs of citizens with a new feature that could make things easier. An upcoming Apple Wallet feature could be used whenever entering an airport or other establishments in order to prove that the person has already had a COVID-19 vaccine or not.

COVID-19 vaccine information

According to a recent report by Bloomberg, this is now the reality that the residents in Los Angeles have to face where a partnership between both Apple and the wellness app called Healthvana could mean that the users' vaccination records will also be offered digitally. This was also made in an attempt to maybe incentivize people to go forth and actually inoculate themselves.

Due to COVID-19 requiring a certain two-shot does, the logic is that having the first shot recorded digitally could help ensure that the individuals are promptly cleared to take their second shot. This could eventually serve as a certain form of proof that a certain person trying to go to the airport, movie, grocery store, music concert, or etc. has been vaccinated.

COVID-19 vaccine second dose is crucial

The story according to Gizmodo notes that Los Angeles has actually just recently broken its very own record for both the number of COVID-19 deaths and hospitalizations. This now leaves health officials all scrambling in order to set up a certain vaccine disbursal plan as fast as possible according to Claire Jarashow, the acting director of vaccine as well as preventable disease control over at the county's very own Department of Public Health.

While the official COVID-19 vaccine will be formally tracked through registries and patients will be handed out a paper tracking card, Jarashow noted that the health officials actually see benefits in giving patients the access to their own digital records as well. This also makes the records harder to misplace and easier to bring around.

The benefits of this technology: HIPAA-compliant

Jarashow noted to Bloomberg that they are really concerned and do want to make sure that the COVID-19 vaccine takers will come back for the second dose. It was stated that they just don't have the complete capacity of doing the total hundreds of different medical record requests in order to find out if people had their first dose as well as when they would need to get their second dose.

Although a number of patients will most likely be a bit wary about handing over their very protected medical data over to an app, Healthvana CEO Ramin Bastani claims that the entire company stores its data on the well protected Amazon Web Services' servers that are HIPAA-compliant. It was said that the app was made as safe as it can be. According to Bloomberg, Healthvana is currently talking to the Los Angeles County concert venues, schools, employers, and more about the use of this technology.
