Robotic pets are not new, so it won't be surprising for many to see a robotic dog, but the one Koda developed is unique in the sense that it has taken a step further and is now powered by artificial intelligence that can help it interact socially with its owner.

AI-Powered Koda Robot Dog Senses Emotions

In a report by CNET, the Koda AI-powered robot dog can sense whether its owner is happy, sad, or excited, which allows it to respond appropriately over time to the human emotions you show.

With its powerful AI and its understanding of even the most basic human emotions, the robotic dog makes a great companion for those who want to get a pet dog but can't.

But more than that, Koda also says that the robotic dog they created can also be a guard or seeing-eye dog, thanks to the company's "blockchain-enabled decentralized AI infrastructure," a subfield of AI research that centers on the development of distributed solutions to problems, which means this robotic dog can analyze complex problems and allow it to do certain tasks with ease.

Plus, you can even teach your mechanical dog some new skills, much like you would with a real dog.

Secured Data and Other Features

Blockchain refers to the way of recording and storing data that makes it extremely challenging to change or hack the system as it does not store any of the information in a central location, but instead, spreads it across a network of computers.

That means the information gathered by your robotic dog about you and your surroundings will be completely secure.

Basically, Koda's robotic dog can adapt to its new surroundings, learn new tricks that can help its owners, and socially interact with you all the while keeping any information it stores private and safe and impossible to hack.

But that's not all.

According to its official promo video, the Koda AI-powered robot dog is equipped with 3D depth cameras located on each side of its body, as well as on its front and its back, plus a 13-megapixel camera on the front for taking high-quality images or as a video camera of sorts.

It also has a touch sensor, which allows you to "pet" it, as well as a microphone array that has a 97% accuracy for voiceprint recognition.

'A Family Pet and a Piece of Art': Koda Robot Dog Price Range

Sure enough, it moves around and can even climb up and down the stairs, thanks to its 14 pieces of high torque motors and two more motors on its neck that give it animal-like mobility.

"It is a functional piece of home technology, a family pet and a piece of art, all at once," Emma Russell said, Koda's CEO. "hose who take this opportunity to be an original owner of a Koda will be able to watch its decentralized AI in action as it evolves from a puppy-like state to a robotic dog with the intelligence of a supercomputer."

So, how much does one supercomputer-slash-companion robotic dog cost?

The Koda AI-powered robot dog costs around $45,000 to $55,000, which is actually cheaper than its competitions in the market, such as the Boston Dynamics Spot Mini that is available for $75,000.
