Gmail is the first of the various Google suite applications to be updated for the Apple Privacy Labels that runs natively on the iOS 14, initially debuted by the Cupertino giant in September 2020. Google Mail is one of the most used e-mail platforms in the world and its application is available to most devices, even among iOS and macOS gadgets from Apple. However, recently, Apple has advocated divulging certain information to its users regarding the application's use of data, information, and other functions in a smart device.

The prompt to this was introduced with the iOS 14 and has been warning people about the apps that use either the location, the camera, microphone, and others, while used or in the background. Google has stopped updating its G Suite for iOS 14 after the initial update, which resulted in pop-up error issues about updating the app.

According to Mac Rumors, Google's update for the Gmail application has been released "quietly" and is now joining YouTube as one of the major applications on Google's suite to adhere to Apple's Privacy Labels. This is a massive step on Google's end, as a deadline from Apple is nearing, especially for those who refuse to abide by the new policy.

The initial updates made by Google are focused on its servers and services in providing the Apple Privacy Labels but have yet to update the actual Gmail app that is used by the iOS users. Google has also added App Privacy and adhered to several of the requirements of Apple beforehand, and it is only the labels that required updating.

It is known that Facebook has expressed that it does not agree with Apple's Privacy Labels settings, along with the privacy policy of the iOS 14 because it would interfere with the ad-tracking service of the platform. While Google has not made its side known or revealed why it failed to address the update early on, it still adhered now, which is expected to be followed by other apps.

Gmail is the first step in the existence of Google's Suite of applications to be updated to Apple's Privacy Labels requirement for the third-party apps that run on the iOS. Moreover, other services including Google Drive, Photos, Docs, and Google Search still awaits its developer's actions to effectively adhere to the iOS 14.

Apple's Privacy Labels is considered to be an important step in Apple's commitment to a safer gadget use and environment, especially for its users, whose data are exposed to various parties and stakeholders. Google is the one at the low end of the stick in this issue, as update errors have been popping up as it runs on the latest versions of iOS.
