According to Engadget's latest report, the upcoming Canoo truck's pre-order is expected to start in the first half of this year, which is June. However, the car manufacturer hasn't released any update yet regarding the exact date.
Its design is very different from the Tesla Cybertruck, which has very sharp edges. The upcoming Canoo truck has round corners and a bulky front comparable to a tadpole's head.
This new vehicle is also expected to stand out against the electric pickups that will be developed by Ford, Rivian, and other high-end manufacturers.
"Canoo is as strong as the toughest trucks out there and is designed to be exponentially more productive...We made accessories for people who use trucks - on the job, weekends, adventure," said Tony Aquila, the executive chairman of the giant car manufacturer, via Engadget.
Canoo truck 2023's specs
The new electric truck allegedly has more than 200 miles of range on a full charge. On the other hand, it is expected to have around 600 HP (horsepower) and 550 lb-ft of torque in a dual-motor configuration.

Some speculations also claimed that it will have a payload capacity of more than 1,800 pounds. When it comes to size, the new Canoo truck is one inch taller than the Tesla Cybertruck. However, it is shorter than the current 81.1-inch GMC Hummer EV. Although it is a little larger than Tesla's electric truck, it is still quite small since it is shorter than its competitors.
However, it can still be much longer when its extender is out since its bed is around eight feet long. This means that it is big enough to carry a 4x8 sheet of plywood.
What makes the Canoo EV truck different?
According to Reuters' latest report, Aquila said that the upcoming Canoo EV truck is not a normal pickup truck. Why? Because it has the size of a Ford Ranger and has the payload-limit of a Prius truck.
As of the moment, pickups are the top-selling cars in the United States. The new-vehicle market is currently dominated by General Motors Co, Stellantis NV, Ford Motor, and other car manufacturers.
