On Monday, Apr. 19, Facebook unveiled in its official post that its new tool will now make transferring of contents easier. Through its fresh data portability option, users could now export their notes and post on the social media application to other channels.

The Menlo Park-based conglomerate now constructed an option for the users to move their contents into blogging platforms like WordPress.com and Blogger, as well as into Google Docs.

If you are wondering if this is a new feature, it is not. Previously, Facebook has featured the export option for the users' data but to the local hard drive. This is a great initiative so you can back up your files in case an unexpected event happens in the future.

But, if you want to use the sent content and use it for your documentation or blogging, it might take some time. That is why the company has come up with a tool that is portable and user-friendly when it comes to transferring notes and posts to a new medium.

Moreover, you can also include the contents' archives to your chosen platform where you want to send the files, Mashable reported.

In 2019, Facebook said that it was developing a tool for the portable exporting of data for the platforms. The test was initiated through an option to move the media files like photos and videos to some storage outlets like Koofr, Google Photos, Backblaze, and Dropbox.

How to Access the Data Portability Tool in Facebook?

Now that you know that you can export notes or posts from the platform to other locations, you can now begin using it.

  1. First, all you have to do is to head on the Settings and look for "Your Facebook Information."

  2. Tap "Transfer Your Information" then enter your password

  3. Now, you can choose the data type as well as the service where you should do the exporting of data.

  4. After selecting your preferred data type, you can now enter your password for a particular service

  5. Click "Confirm Transfer" to activate the tool

While this is pretty convenient especially to the bloggers and other similar persons, there are some reminders that you should remember in using this data portability tool.

When transferring contents, do not forget that those that are visible on your profile will be exported upon the process. If you want to move the file from your friend's wall, you can not simply just do that.

Additionally, those posts that are tagged by your friends will not be included in the file transfer.

For those who want to delete their Facebook account, this opportunity is a game-changer since you can now export them easily to another platform where you want to start anew.
