OPPO is joining the foldable smartphone market, a known leaker confirms after revealing that the company is working on one that could launch sometime in June 2021.

The tipster has been known for accurately posting OPPO-related leaks, such as when he revealed the launch date of the OPPO Find X3 series and Vivo S9e specs before its launch.

OPPO's Upcoming Foldable Phone Leaked

The upcoming foldable phone OPPO is leaked by Chinese tipster Arsenal on Tuesday, May 4, via Weibo.

According to his post, the unnamed foldable phone is being made by Green Factory and would measure around 7 inches and 2 inches when folded.

It will also feature a clamshell design equipped with an LTPO screen technology capable of supporting a dynamic refresh rate.

Choosing the LTPO screen technology solves the limited battery capacity for the foldable phone, as it can deliver high refresh rates while consuming significantly less energy.

Arsenal's post confirms earlier reports about the foldable phone that was first revealed in Mar. 2021, which claimed that it would be better than the OPPO Find X3 series.

"Green Factory's first new folding screen is expected to debut on Q1, which is much more interesting than tonight's exploration version," the leak, which was posted on Mar. 11, reads.

In addition, reports as early as last year reveals a patent granted to OPPO that shows a clamshell phone with a rotating hinge.

First revealed by LetsGoDigital in Oct. 2020, the patent suggests that the hinge included on the clamshell phone design would rotate at different angles.

However, both tipsters did not mention the possibility of the upcoming foldable phone to include this feature.

OPPO had been slowly climbing its way up as one of the largest smartphone manufacturers. It had been releasing flagship devices that aim to rival the likes of Apple, Samsung, Huawei, and Xiaomi.

In 2021, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer introduced the OPPO X 2021 rollable phone, which shows good potential after garnering nearly five stars on hands-on reviews.
