AMD Radeon RX 6800M Mobile GPU Could Beat Nvidia Again? 12GB GDDR6, 120 FPS, and More!

AMD Radeon RX 6800 Mobile GPU has finally been revealed as AMD's laptop version of the Radeon RX 6000-series GPUs which directly aim to take on Nvidia's very own mobile RTX 30-series GPU. The lineup is headed by the AMD Radeon RX 6800 which currently sees the company making its long-awaited return to the whole high-end mobile gaming industry.

According to TechRadar, the new GPU is based on the Navi 22 GPU with 40 CUs which puts it on par with the full AMD Radeon RX 6800. AMD notes that the mobile GPU will be equipped with some interesting specs.

The GPu is capable of delivering a whopping 1.7x improvement on "Resident Evil: Village" according to AMD, and even a 1.4x boost on "Cyberpunk 2077." Quite interestingly, AMD is now claiming that its high-end mobile GPU is capable of outperforming Nvidia RTX 3070 and sometimes even the Nvidia RTX 3080.

The new AMD Radeon RX 6800M averaged at 141 FPS for "Resident Evil: Village" compared to the previous 132 for the RTX 3070 and 137 for the RTX 3080. The GPU was also able to beat both of Nvidia's GPUs in "Assassin's Creed Valhalla" and "Borderlands 3."

AMD is currently claiming some better gains when it comes to gaming while using a battery. It was suggested that the AMD Radeon 6800M will be offering 1.4x performance boost of the RTX 3080 for both "Dirt 5" and "Resident Evil: Village." AMD has now unveiled two of its lesser-powered GPUs namely the AMD Radeon RX 6700M and the Radeon RX 6800M.

AMD notes that the Radeon RX 6800M will be bringing out impressive gains over the Nvidia RTX 3060 in a number of different 1080p games like "Dirt 5" or "Borderlands 3." AMD, however, according to its own benchmarks, have failed to match the AMpere GPU when it came to "Cyberpunk 2077" or "Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War."

AMD Radeon RX 6800M and RX 6600M

AMD notes that the new GPU will be touted as the fastest "AMD Radeon Graphics for laptops" are going to be available soon. The Radeon RX 6800M and the RX 6600M are both shipping starting today with the upcoming RX 6700M coming soon.

The very first laptops to pack AMD's brand new GPUs have also reportedly started shipping. The new all-AMD ROG Strix G15, which reportedly pairs an AMD Radeon RX 6800M mobile GPU along with the powerful Ryzen 9 5900HX CPU is finally available.

The official AMD website markets the Radeon RX 6800M as capable of dealing with any AAA-game which is also expected of the AMD Radeon RX 6800M Mobile GPU. Of course, gamers will have to wait for the official launch to see how the GPU really plays out.
