'Star Wars: The Old Republic' Expansion: What to Expect From "Legacy of the Sith"'

"Star Wars: The Old Republic" is celebrating its 10th anniversary with a new expansion called "Legacy of the Sith" that is due for release during the holiday season later this year.

The announcement was made by developer BioWare on the game's official website. The new expansion is part of the "Star Wars: The Old Republic" tenth anniversary celebrations. It also joins the list of "Star Wars: The Old Republic" expansions, which include "Knights of the Fallen Empire."

According to the announcement, BioWare is "taking a deeper look at improving the overall player experience for both newcomers and veterans alike!"

The new expansion is the latest update to the "Star Wars" video games that fans can look forward to. Back in April, an insider confirmed that "Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic" will be remastered.

"Star Wars: The Old Republic's" new expansion focuses on the hunt for renegade Sith Darth Malgus. Throughout the journey, players can get to explore new planets and locations that "Legacy of the Sith" adds to the game.

One of which is a planet called Manaan, which the Siths have seized due to a vital resource called kolto that it has. The new planet in "Star Wars: The Old Republic" will feature underwater scenery. A new base of operations for the player's faction can also be unlocked upon completing the storyline.

Another new location in the "Star Wars: The Old Republic" expansion is a planet called Elom. Elom is where players can find an old Sith Fortress that Darth Malgus has interest in. The planet Elom will be available for both solo and multiplayer playing.

Combat Styles, R-4 Anomaly Operation, and Shadows of the Underworld

The "Legacy of the Sith" expansion also introduces new combat styles players can use. The new feature "will allow players to choose a specific class story and combine it with ability sets from other classes," according to IGN.

An R-4 Anomaly Operation will also be introduced in the "Star Wars: The Old Republic" expansion and will revolve around a Sith cult harvesting an ancient weapon.

"Legacy of the Sith" will also bring about a new Galactic season called Shadows of the Underworld. It will include new rewards and quality-of-life improvements for the game.

The "Legacy of the Sith" expansion kicks off the tenth anniversary celebrations for "Star Wars: The Old Republic" that will continue in 2022.

According to the same announcement posted by BioWare, players can expect more story updates, even more Galactic Seasons, a new Flashpoint, new locations, UI updates, and more throughout the anniversary celebrations. BioWare has likewise teased the possibility of having surprises along the way.

Star Wars: The Old Republic Game Background

Released in December 2011, "Star Wars: The Old Republic" is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) whose story revolves around the Sith Empire and Galactic Republic. Players have to choose one of the two factions in the game.

"Star Wars: The Old Republic" features eight different classes that players can choose from. The eight classes in the game are the Jedi Knight, Jedi Consular, Smuggler, and Trooper from the side of the Galactic Republic and Sith Warrior, Sith Inquisitor, Bounty Hunter, and Imperial Agent from the Sith Empire.

Each class has a three-part storyline where players have to level up in order to progress in the story.
