Specifically, Microsoft confirmed that the new PWA feature (Progressive Web Apps) will arrive in the Windows 10 Microsoft Edge version.

If you have no idea what PWA is, it is a feature that can turn the websites you usually access into apps. On the other hand, this internal functionality can also help your preferred web pages achieve near-native performance on the device.

This simply means that the websites will be smoother and faster to access. On the other hand, experts also explained that Microsoft's Progressive Web Apps feature could also work seamlessly across different platforms, such as Android, Linux, iOS, macOS, and especially Windows.

Microsoft Edge To Turn Your Websites Into Apps?

According to Fossbytes' latest report, Microsoft already added the ability to download PWAs in Edge Chromium. And now, the tech giant firm said that it is also arriving in the regular Microsoft Edge browser

The new feature was first spotted in Microsoft Edge Insider's report, stating that in the first quarter of 2021, the company will "launch PWA instead of browser with URL links."

"Starting in Microsoft Edge version 97, you can opt into launching the browser in a PWA rather than the full native browser," added the tech giant manufacturer.

Many consumers will surely be excited about this new functionality since it provides a seamless experience. PWA can do this since they open in a headless browser window and remove the options that are not essential when accessing a website.

As of the moment, various leakers claim that Microsoft will release the new Windows 10 Edge feature this coming September. However, you still need to consider that the rumored launch schedule is still subject to change since Microsoft is not released.

On the other hand, the arrival of PWA will also depend on the development efficiency of the company since they still need to test the new feature to find possible bugs and other software issues.

PWA's Other Details

Once the new PWA feature arrives in Microsoft Edge for Windows 10, your PC will provide a new notification. This will show the name of the PWA instead of the actual name of your Microsoft browser.

This means that if you use it, for example, the save Facebook website will be the name of the Microsoft Edge PWA icon instead of just the search engine's name. This will save you some time searching for the actual URL of the website in the future.
