Over the past years, Google Calendar has been a useful tool for people who want to be reminded of important events ahead of a specific schedule. The popularity of digital calendars has scaled from their usability to their features that users could explore.

Compared to the traditional calendars, what Google offers is more than just seeing the date and the occasion. Through this Calendar app, you can discover cool tricks that you can try if you haven't yet seen them before.

To get started, here's the list of some Google Calendar tips that you might want to check for yourself.

Planning the Time of Meeting

According to Mashable, Google Calendar excels in planning meetings. You can try two options if you want to schedule a virtual meeting with your friends, classmates, and other people.

The first option is "finding a time" when making an appointment schedule. This will help you know each participant's schedule for a particular day through the Calendar app.

This will guarantee that everyone will be ready for the upcoming meeting since you can see their free time in advance.

For an alternative, you can select "Suggest a time" for all participating members in the appointment. Google Calendar will allow you to tap the best option that you think will apply to all participants.

In connection to this, Tech Times reported that the digital calendar app had added the Time Insights feature for users who want to know their total working hours.

Keyboard Shortcuts

Keyboard shortcuts are also a thing in Google Calendar since they are readily accessible in the 'Settings' of the app. All you have to do is tap the gear in the upper right corner and find "Keyboard Shortcuts" in the Settings.

Check the following keyboard shortcuts for reference.

  • Shift +/ (Search)
  • c (Create an event)
  • k or p (go back to previous date range)
  • j or n (go to the next date range)
  • t (jump to the current day)
  • Backspace or Delete (Delete an event)
  • 1 or d (Day)
  • 2 or w (Week)
  • 3 or m (Month)
  • 4 or x (7 days)
  • 5 or a (Agenda)

Here, you have all the freedom to select your desired format density. To do that, go to the upper right corner of the page and look for the gear icon. From there, search "Density and color," and you can now alter the "Information density" to "Compact."

Change Meeting Host

After discovering the shortcuts, it's now the time to know that you can change the person in charge for the meeting. To do this in Google Calendar, you need to follow the edit function of the meeting.

Then, select "More actions" and scroll until you see "Change owner." You can now tap that person's email address to transfer the event ownership.

Daily Agenda

If you are the type of person who loves writing journals, it's important always to keep track of your daily activity. In Google Calendar, this is possible by going to the Settings and clicking a calendar for your agenda on the Settings for my calendars."

Ensure the "None" option in the Daily Agenda is "Email." This saves your time checking your calendar every day.

Furthermore, you can add a video conference link and send emails to a group in Google Calendar.

Back in September, Tech Times wrote that the new Google Calendar widgets received the "add events feature" in just a single click.

Elsewhere, 9to5Google reported that the app recently added new invite options and avatars for mobile usage.
